There's no reprise of that so you would be best to watch it before watching this.
Paul and his mother are now firmly esconsed with the Fremen. And Paul leads the fight against the Harkonnens. Which has some in the Fremen believing his is the chosen one in their ancient prophecy. Although one particular Fremen isn't into this at all.
A new threat from the Harkonnens arises when a very capable family member comes to the fore. And the Emperor and his daughter get involved as well.
All this and a certain order plotting their own plots, means only one will emerge victorious and take humanity into the future. Whatever that might be like. Hard decisions for Paul await....
If you like part one, you'll like this. If you're a purist of the book, then you may or may not. You know what purists are like. I'm one though, and I loved it.
It's because it's made by a director who really knows what he's doing. He uses film to it's full extent to make for a memorable movie experience. It helps to have outdoor scenes actually done on location rather than in studio with digital backdrops. It makes the world come alive so well. World building, as it's called, it superb.
There are new additions to the cast who are great. In particular Florence Pugh, who makes Princess Irulan a very smart free thinker. And Austin Butler is amazing as Feyd Rautha. Getting the time and chance to do with the role what Sting didn't get. He gets a better costume also.
It also does get into some very interesting moral dilemmas, which do give you food for thought, as you consider the choices that face Paul.
The sound design is amazing also. Probably even better than Oppenheimer. When I saw this in the cinema my seat rocked. And it hadn't done that so much since the days of Sensurround. Anyone not around in the 70's ask your grandparents about that.
This does end at the same point as the book does. Not a spoiler to say it doesn't rain. It is said a film of the next book in the series will be coming. Here's hoping.
I think this is as perfect an adaptation of a genre classic as you could possibly get. Nothing is ever going to be entirely like the book, but I think this works. So it's highly recommended.
There's no extras scenes or material during or after the end credits.
Some bits of the film are subtitled. These can't be turned off. There are some flashing images also, so be aware if those affect you.
The dvd has no extras. It goes into the main menu when loaded with no ads or trailers. Those do seem to be a thing of the past for dvds.

For me, there’s no right or wrong, better or worse film. All have a place and Dune Part Two, 2924 is a brilliant film whatever your perspective. A great follow up to Dune, 2021 I think, but it doesn’t matter if you haven’t seen that film as this is also a stand alone epic. Arrakis and spice mining remain central to the storytelling, along with a bit of romance. But the heart of this outstanding film are the surreal landscapes, battles and such attention to detail that it feels plausible.
It’s wild and bold and best of all, totally immersive. Paves the way for more. Yes please. Ont watch and watch again as much for the sheer beauty and elegance. Loved it.
Part 2 not so.
I can only describe it as Stunning.
Picture quality excellent.
Dolby Atmos soundtrack very good even without umpteen height speakers.
One niggle, does not remember where you left off if you have a pause in the proceedings. Restarts from the beginning.
A Class act in all manner.
If only they could sort the restart niggle out, 11 out of 10 then.
Must admit having watched Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides, the exiled Duke of House Atreides ) in 'Wonka' I kinda of expected the sands to turn to chocolate (lol) ....thankfully they didn't.
In this the 2nd and concluding part to the 'Dune' movie series, we see the exiled young Duke try to integrate with and learn the ways of the Freman-tribe along with his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson )
We also see Paul fall for Freman-Warrior Chani (Zendaya) who even before they'd met he had visions of.
Paul becomes seen as the fortold saviour becoming the leader to rid the Universe of the 'House Harkonnen'
A sweeping epic that perhaps falls a little short of the sequel, but very watchable nevertheless.
(Did watch the first a few weeks ago to get the story-line back in my thoughts before watching this)
Paul is meant to be related unknowingly to the Harkonnens but they are now quite bland and monochrome. The reddish hair that signifies their gene heritage just done away with.
Thufir Hawat's character just gone. Plot line just gone. I don't like Vilneuve's direction and the story as it is now. A great cast let down by a watered down and messed up plot.
Stilgar, played very well by the actor... Yet he is now portrayed as a fossil who's laughed at. The whole film is very washed out colourwise. For all it's problems I still prefer the original with Kyle Machlachan.
I love the original books and this is turning out to be disappointing.
Seen negative comments that Paul looks like a 14 year old. If you read the books properly you'd understand that Paul is like that! He's not a massive man. He's a boy thrown into his role too early! He is also slight of stature!
Irulan and Chani's roles are incorrect too. He takes Irulan purely as a figurehead wife for power. Chani is his love.
